What Not to Pack
You have approximately a week to pack all the things that you will bring to your new home. You’ve already contacted local San Francisco movers and have paid for the big move. The date is set. You have acquired boxes to store your belongings and you’ve made a phone call to several friends and family for help. Almost everything is ready and you can’t wait for the day to finally settle into your new home. Unfortunately, there are a few things that nearby movers can’t move when the big day comes.
The day comes and the movers saw that you labeled one of the boxes with the word “cleaners” and all of sudden, you’re being asked to leave the items. Apparently, movers will transport heavy closets but will decline on a liter of disinfectants. You could have avoided this trouble if you had done your research. Lucky for your, Good Green Moving already has a list for you. Here are the four items that you should not pack during your move.
Food Items
Generally, you should take any food with you during the move. Food might spoil, stink the whole truck, and damage other things in the box. If you have any condiments, beers, and sodas, they might break and leak inside the box. Raw food also requires being frozen so they stay safe to eat.
Anything Explosive or Flammable
Explosive materials like dynamite, fireworks, and ammunition are definitely a huge no-no when packing to move. All movers will discourage you to pack flammable liquids like kerosene, gasoline, aerosol cans, glues and cleaning fluids. No matter how careful you are, accidents can still happen. A few spills can cause fire or explosion damaging all your things and even harming the movers in the process.
Combustible Liquids
Disinfectants, rubbing alcohol and other cleaning materials are needed when you move to a new home. But, instead of packing all these things, try to buy them when you have already reached your destination. These materials are highly combustible and you should not risk bringing them during the move.
Corrosive Liquids
Packing any corrosive liquids like acids and bleach is also highly discouraged. If you’re not entirely sure about the thing you are bringing, better contact our professional movers right away so they can give you a detailed list.
